Jewellery Care Guide

Bianca Maria Bolum Art Jewellery is designed with durability and wearability at its core. However, all precious metal jewellery will naturally tarnish and scratch in time, the extent of which depends on the care given by the wearer.

You should always protect your jewellery from knocks, humidity, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold to minimize these effects. Scratches and dents are normal signs of wear, and are just aspects of your jewellery piece changing alongside you, developing a history and identity intertwined with yours.

Here are some tips on how to keep your pieces looking beautiful for many years to come.

General Care Instructions

  • Avoid showering or bathing with your jewellery on, especially in the sea or chlorinated water.
  • Never expose jewellery to household cleaning products, especially bleach and highly reactive solutions.
  • Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray on gold plated jewellery, gemstones or pearls as it can damage the material, as well as affect the quality of plating.
  • Do not repeatedly bend the wires in and out of shape as that can cause breakages.
  • Avoid contact with cosmetics and makeup to reduce the risk of residue falling into settings and dulling the pieces.
  • Keep away from extreme temperatures and humidity. Do not leave jewellery out for extended periods, as that can speed up tarnishing. Store your pieces in their designated boxes, in a clean, dry place away from the sun.

Every jewellery piece comes with a complimentary polishing cloth & care instructions. Basic cleaning can be done at home, but you can also have your jewellery professionally cleaned and inspected by Bianca every 6 months.
